Riverwalk Tucson Homeowner Association Pigeon Trap and Removal Update 6-25-19

Jun 25, 2019

Hello Riverwalk Tucson homeowner;

It is unfortunate, but sometimes, wildlife becomes a problem.  As such, the community adopted a pigeon trap and removal program last year and the treatment plan is scheduled for particular (most affected) buildings.  Starting today, June 25, Building 4 is next on the schedule.

The vendor, Premier Pigeon shall be accessing the roofs from one source and treating all roofs once every week or two for the next 3-4 months. Traps will be set on every other unit of Bldg 4.   Homeowners/residents are not allowed to remove the traps as the damage caused by the abundance of the bird population will take a serious toll on the maintenance costs for the homeowners and the association.  This effort is for the good of the community.  The independent efforts of treatment had not been successful.  Any owner/renter who moves/removes a trap will be required to pay $250 for an extra visit from Premier Pigeon to replace the trap.

Below is a description of how the program works:

Setting of traps to catch pigeons is the only way to alleviate a pigeon problem within an area as large as a neighborhood. With the roof tops the way that they are in Riverwalk with multi level parapet walls, shaded areas, and rooftop a/c units, abatements would not be an effective solution. Premier Pigeon Control proposes that a total of 4 traps be set on roofs through out community. These traps will start in problem areas and be moved to other rooftops as needed. Traps would need to continue to be on roofs to maintain an opportunity to trap and remove new pigeons to the area. Pigeons that currently live in community will be caught and then any new pigeons that try to come in and establish themselves with be caught be the maintenance of the traps. With out trapping pigeon will continue to find shaded areas on the roof each building. By setting of traps on the roof top, Premier representatives will need to access these traps on a weekly and bi-weekly basis. It cannot be done via ladders, we will need access through the inside of a home.
